Good Stubborn Facts Thread on State Of Rightiedom

There's a thread I'm liking on on our 'cuz-blog Stubborn Facts, grumbling how radicalized too righties have become. It has some good perspective to add in comments.

I'd add that you're likely to suffer a similar mirror of leftie fate during the Bush administration. Enough lefties were radicalized by the election going to the courts in 2000 that we lost in '02 bigtime, which isn't so usual. Enough righties are in denial of thinking about Bush II's mistakes and thus sounding utterly silly on the major issue of the day, the economy, and thus seems likely to me to mirror the unusual halftime loss, in '10.

Friday open thread

Thanks to Jon Kay for getting the site back up and running. Obviously, things aren't perfect yet.

So, what is up? How are you doing with your NCAA picks? Going anywhere for spring break?

The adults in charge - more or less.

From Taegan Goddard's excellent website, politicalwire.com:

"The Republicans are like an arsonist who complains that the fire department is wasting water... Unless and until they do offer an alternative, they really have no right to whine about the president. For now at least, GOP stands for Got 0 Plans."

-- Paul Begala, on CNN, on the Republican criticisms of President Obama's budget.

“The same people who drove the economy into the ditch are now complaining about the size of the tow truck”
---Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass

I bring these up because it's Tedral time. For those who were childhood asthmatics in the 60's it was the godawful tasting stuff that helped you breathe.
Strong medicine for bad times. In this case we need to spend money and lots of it. Hopefully on more useful projects than the bridge to nowhere or the road to nowhere. Hearing the GOP protest the cost of bailing America out of THEIR ideologically driven policies and then bringing up "the children" and the debt they will inherit, you have to wonder why their Democratic colleagues aren't laughing in their faces. (Professional courtesy no doubt). These pithy comments notwithstanding some historians point out that Roosevelt's mistake in the mid 30's was listening to the GOP and cutting back spending, which brought on another, although less disastrous economic slowdown. Here's hoping that Obama heeds history's warning. Phil Gramm and the entire GOP (as well as 30 or so Democratic Senators) certainly did not.

It's awfully slow, almost like my old dial up days.
But it works...
