June 27, 2008Headline: Obama and Clinton Together in UnityWhoever thought to put Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in Unity, NH is freaking brilliant. Speaking of freaking brilliant... Barack Obama would have to be crazier than a s%*& house rat not to put HRC on the national ticket. We would be talking about a 45 - 48 state landslide and a political mandate that could lead to energy independence, dramatic healthcare reform, immigration reform, and many other accomplishments that have been sunk in gridlock for the last twenty years. I got to admit, the thought of it geeks me out a bit. Maybe even enough to vote for Senator "I was for public financing before I was against it." Yes, after years of hating her guts, I have become quite the "Hillblazer. " I found her push at the end of the nomination process to be courageous, heoroic, and down right inspiring. Which certainly proves that, in a big enough country, you can find someone who believes almost anything. Somehow, however, I suspect that the number of votes that Clinton would gain Obama is about a tenth of the number of votes which she would lose him. Just not enough people that would otherwise vote for McCain, but who would change to vote for Obama if Clinton was on the ticket. Posted by: wj at June 27, 2008 12:31 PMI disagree. I think those that wouldn't vote for Obama because he chose Hillary Clinton, wouldn't vote for Obama no matter who he chose. She ties up Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Ohio, and West Virgina for him, and makes him extremely competitive in Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, and Kentucky. If John McCain has to spend what limited resources he has defending the southwest and the midwest, he is dead in states like Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Viriginia, and Iowa. Hillary Clinton wraps this thing up in the late summer for Barack Obama. Whether or not he will go that route or whether or not she would take it is another issue. Posted by: Starbucks Republican at June 27, 2008 01:12 PMWhy not just hire Lucrezia Borgia as your personal chef? Posted by: Tully at June 27, 2008 01:17 PMIndeed, she may make for a good campaign, but he would have to worry about her sabotaging his presidency from day 1. I think Obama has too much of an ego to share as much power and attention is required for a Clinton vice-presidency. But primarily, he probably would want to be able to sleep at night in the White House. Posted by: Justin at June 30, 2008 07:39 AM |
