Nobody here but us chickens. Out of curiosity, I have a question: Given a "government line", like a number line, but with different forms of government instead of numbers, such that the leftmost end of the line was "total government", and the rightmost end of the line was "no government at all", where would you put yourself? Posted by: lucyp at May 16, 2008 04:19 PMI dunno, I would put most government on the right with least government on the left...... Posted by: Marcus at May 16, 2008 04:57 PMRandom note: given the ongoing publicity around such Hilton family scions as Ms. Paris and Nicky, it might be a good idea if the chain didn't send out revervation confirmations with the sender listed as "The Hilton Family." I'm just sayin'. Posted by: Tully at May 16, 2008 06:21 PMI'm about a third of the way from no government to totalitarianism. I like market preservation and regulation, and measures to keep consumers powerful. I DON'T like bedroom regulation or things like high drinking ages, seatbelt and bag regs, or morally-based censorship. Posted by: Jon Kay at May 17, 2008 01:36 AMThe I know that I don't comment here hardly at all any more, but I retain very fond memories of this blog and still swing through once in a while to see what's up. Anyhoo... I got interviewed by my hometown newspaper in a Q&A format. Apparently I am Forest Grove's most famous blogger - a dubious distinct, I assure you. Near the end of it I was asked about my favorite blog reads and I listed Center Field as one of them. I just noticed a bit ago that they messed up the hyperlink - pointing in to some blog called Center Point. I emailed the reporter with the correct URL for this place. So anyway I just thought some of you old-timers who remember me and my former sidekick Carla (well, okay... so I was her sidekick...) might get a kick out of reading the Q&A. Cheers! Posted by: Kevin at May 20, 2008 12:20 AMBTW, Carla has been the Netroots Coordinator for the Jeff Merkley for Senate campaign here in Oregon. Her blogging star has definitely risen to impressive heights since the days when she used to comment here as the co-author of an insignificant blog few had ever heard of and fewer read with any regularity - and I am pleased to see PK still listed on the lower blogroll. Between those days and today, she had quit PK, co-founded another blog and then quit that blog when both major Dem candidates for US Senate tried to hire her for their respective campaigns and she went to work for Jeff Merkley. It was at that last blog where she really made a name for herself in political circles. But political campaigns are a game for the young and she's planning on resigning in a few weeks so that she can return to blogging, having discovered that blogging really is where she shines the brightest. I fully expect her to continue to increase her political clout in Oregon and the Northwest. |
