September 21, 2007Some Localblogging: 'Horns Crime ProblemsThe Texas Longhorns football team is having some problems this year. Legal problems. Problems finding eleven players still all out of jail. Three players have been suspended, and two more who knocked over a store are out permanently. Clearly, the team has some kind of problems this year. The local paper's humorist, Kelso, suggested that the team needs a tough mama (registration req'd - worth it if you have enough time to catch up on some Kelso back columns). Seems to me like the problem is too much success. This' been going on a little bit forever, just as, I'd guess, in most teams that have recent winning records. But now Texas has a recent championship under its belt. Great success breeds great arrogance. Hopefully, Coach Brown can see that and figure out a way to remind his team they're only human, after all. But it won't be easy with all the personal, media and management pressures.
