August 25, 2007Fair PointPatrick Ruffini points out that while righty bloggers have successfully expanded the discussion with the Save the Debate Coalition, lefty bloggers have succeeded in limiting it by getting the Fox News debate canceled. I am not exactly a big flag waver for bloggers on the right or left, but I think his point is fair and lends itself to the arguments made here. WIth the way that the Democratic candidates are running toward special interests and away from conservatives and DLC'ers, you would think they have this thing sewn up. Ruffini asks: You have to ask yourself, which side is playing a more constructive role in the political process? Which side is encouraging its candidates to go speak to millions of people they would have otherwise reached? The DNC Rules Committee just voted to strip Florida of its delegates to the convention if Florida holds their primary on a non-approved date. I think that answers his questions nicely. Sweeeet irony. Posted by: Tully at August 25, 2007 05:13 PMFunny you should mention that, Star. Funny, funny, funny and also ironic since You Tube now has a clip showing frequent Fox News guest Ted Nugent saying "Piece of shit" Obama "should suck on a machine gun" and "bitch Hillary" should ride one. But seriously, there's nothing to gain for the Dems to gain from a Fix debate, and there's nothing for the Reps to lose from a YouTube one. As to whether the Reps will actually debate on YouTube...I'll believe it when I see it. *Ah, remember the days when the Dixie Chicks were banned from playlists, their records were burned, and they were roundly attacked, just because one said "We're ashamed George Bush is from Texas."? Posted by: Blue Jean at August 26, 2007 11:12 AMJean, You don't think that there are conservatives out there that would consider voting for a Democrat over John McCain or Rudy Giualiani? I disagree... I think Conservatives are frustrated and this would be the exact right time for Democratic candidates to speak to them. Posted by: Mathew at August 26, 2007 04:36 PMThere's NEVER a bad time for speaking to the other side of the divide. Doesn't mean anyone will listen, but any communication is an improvement over not communication. Jean, could we have a Dixie Chicks/Ted Nugent concert? That would be cool! We could take bets on how long before their respective fans started beating each other up. ;-) Posted by: Tully at August 26, 2007 05:32 PM |
