February 05, 2007Are You a Liberal Anti-Semite?Quiz here. Saw this at Harry's Place. There's also a long comments thread there Posted by Jon Kay at February 5, 2007 08:50 PMComments
Geex....I'm glad the test shows I'm not an anti-Zionist. Now post it at Kos and see the reaction. LOL. Funny, but rather useless. For the real anti-Zionist, here's a better test. Just ask do you agree with this? "Marwan Chamoun: How many or us Lebanese, or even Arabs, know anything about the Talmud? Or about the book, Exposing the Talmud? Or about the book, Pawns on the Chessboard? Or about another book, The Secret World Government? Or about Exposing the Talmud? Or about Blood for the Matzah of Zion, [which deals with] the slaughter of the priest Tomaso de Camangiano, who was a Sicilian with French citizenship, in the days of Muhammad Ali Pasha, in 1840... [...] [Former Syrian] Minister Mustafa Tlass wrote a voluminous book about this, in which he included all the documents written by the French diplomats and consul in Lebanon. [...] The world loves the Jews. The "ruler" is "Christianity - the Christian West. Arabs, Muslims – why don't you take advantage of something like this? A priest was slaughtered in the presence of two rabbis in the heart of Damascus, in the home of a close friend of this priest, Daud Al-Harari, the head of the Jewish community of Damascus. After he was slaughtered, his blood was collected, and the two rabbis took it. Why? So they could worship their god, because by drinking human blood, they can get closer to God. Where are our diplomats and politicians? Why don't we profit from these historical matters, which are presented to us on a simple, eternal, golden platter? As I've said, these books can be found on the streets of Beirut. There are approximately 20 to 30 such books. I must have bought about 2,000 copies since they were published, maybe more. I'd like to say 20,000 copies, but I don't know. When somebody gets married, instead of chocolates, I give him one of these books. Whoever reads this for the first time feels a chill of horror and disbelief. He cannot believe it." Lebanese Poet Marwan Chamoun: Jews Slaughtered Christian Priest in Damascus in 1840 and Used His Blood for Matzos from an interview which aired on TeleLiban TV on January 30, 2007 That might even get a few kudos....in some quarters in the Left extreme. One of the more ridiculous us vs. them debate cut-off tools around. Hate feeding off hate to create more hate.
That quiz is hopelessly crude and rigid. You either have to be a far-right wingnut, a far-left moonbat, or a lefty who oppose Iraq, but isn't anti-Israel, or anti-American. The third one certainly makes perfect sense, but what about if you're a liberal who is pro-Israel, yet pro-Iraq war, likes Joe Lieberman, a Democrat, and yet not a fan of Bush and the right? Thank God for the blogosphere. Posted by: Rafique Tucker at February 6, 2007 10:30 AMSo true Raff. It is a pretty useless test delineating the three groupings it pre-conceives. And what defines the “Liberal” part of this equation as though all Lefties are Liberals? It does bring up the limitations of polling and how media group mindset's influence polling results through their formulation of questions.. Here is an example: Question: What do you think about the recent Chinese ASAT test? a.) It was a prelude to China's plan to take over the world and market its weapons to our adversaries. b.) It was an attempt by China to force negotiations on a Weapon Free Space after America tested an ASAT twenty-two years ago. c. ) It was a rational response to dominating America's military power and capabilities. This places a reasonable response in the center? When forced to answer, the results show only the reaction to an insufficient crop of choices and says little about real beliefs.. I think that if one wants to probe for Liberal or Conservative attitudes, just show them extreme things and judge the reaction. How long does it take one to read the poet above and submit that “Israeli behavior has fostered this perception”, or that “such views don't really represent a sizable part of the Muslim population”? The poet is calling on Muslims to exploit "historical fact" and persuade Christians to see that Jews are vipers that drank Christian blood in 1840 as they do now. “Liberals” in the sixties and seventies were “rejectionists” which the Chomsky wing hated. Our bi-partisan NSS has taken this view for 69 years. Now the anti-war/Far Left wing blogs posts every day about the Nazi-Zionist this and the warmongering-Zionist that. Like the applause for our soldiers, support for Israel infuriates part of the new Democrat base. We have American actors making movies in Turkey with similar blood libel. Turkish mainstream "Valley of Wolves" portrays a Jewish/American military doctor stealing organs of Iraqis to sell in Tel Aviv. Still Busey can make it onto a reality program. Posting the extreme ravings of clerics and poets, world leaders and terrorists don't end debate, they merely frame it in discursive reality rather than beginning with the false notion of moral equivalency between all contrasting views. If this were the case, why debate?. Same thing when dealing with Intelligent Design in classrooms. Fairness does not mean leveling the playing field of truth, or comparing apples with footwear.. There is a concerted effort in media right now, to play down anything that seems escalating. If it says something negative about Iraq or the US, it is ”reported”.There is/was a reason why the Free World turned to us in their darkest hours. And so far we haven’t let them down. Communist China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Syria and others represent real challenges to the principles we have been defending, despite our flaws and financial self-interests. How we proceed now is influenced by media and politics. By filtering news, constructing rigged polls and playing to ratings and fears, real characterizations and faulty thinking goes sadly unnoticed. Sometimes reporters try to address issues, the viewing audience fails to listen closely and accepts spin as fact. Here is a segment form an ABC interview. Sawyer: Is there something new in the peace process? Assad: No, nothing new, because as I said earlier this administration doesn't have the will, and it's really difficult to move on the peace track without the United States. Sawyer: And chance Hamas will volunteer recognition of Israel's right to exist? Assad: It's a matter of dialogue. If you want them to do so, to be involved in peace, you better talk to them. Convince them. Sawyer: As I came here, human rights groups sent me the names of what they say are political prisoners and journalistic prisoners. People who [are] imprisoned and treated horribly just for writing, writing criticism of the government. Assad: This is not true. We don't have such political prisoners. We have two kinds of prisoners. Either involved in terrorist attacks or breaking the law of Syria. Sawyer: To the Americans that read the Human Rights Watch and that read the human rights reports. Assad: Yeah, we don't say that we are perfect and whenever I talk about this issue I always say we are still at the very beginning. We still have a long way to go. Actually the democratic development has suffered from the serious setback recently especially after the war on Iraq. It's not only what you want to do. It's not only a matter of laws. You need the development of the society and you need the political atmosphere and you need the security. Sawyer: But you were educated in England and you saw. … Press freedom, political freedom. Why not have complete democracy here? Why not have Western-style democracy in Syria? Assad: Well, I was educated in Syria. I went to London when I was 27 years old. But again, the democracy is a tool to a better life, but it is a part of the political development. And the political development should be part of the society development. It needs time. You cannot develop society suddenly just like this. The democracy in your country and in Europe is a result of long history. It didn't happen suddenly. So you can't talk about abrupt changes in our region. It's a matter of time, and it should go this way, but not according to Western standards — unless we change our customs and habits. So it's going to be democracy, but according to our standards. Is Assad a reasonable and sympathetic figure? a.) No, he is a lying SOB, giving sanctuary, weapons and money to insurgents, hit squads and terrorists while helping to topple or destroy his neighbors. LOL strange links...."If it says something negative about Iraq or the US, it is reported. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/02/05/iraq.lawmaker/index.html Doesn't seem to link here, so cut and paste, please...... Max; Geopolitical squeeze might bring Sunni governments to their senses. Left alone, the Middle East is likely to glow from fallout. So, try, try, and try again. Are there other options? I get your feeling often.....P.S. annual medical exam went well. Here is an interesting new blog for you. Longevity Science Last, but not least: Health coverage for DOD is braking the bank. The cost is staggering. Energy/healthcare /Energy/heathcare Energy/heathcare...............LOL Posted by: Maxtrue at February 7, 2007 02:23 PMStick that where the sun don't shine Mr.Assad. Posted by: Maxtrue at February 7, 2007 02:27 PMRemember when the WORLD condemmed Hizb'Allah for attacking an Israeli outpost and triggering a war? Even Lebanese admit Israel did not start the conflict. I guess if you ARE a Liberal anti-Zionist you will accept this B.S. and agree. Yes? Posted by: Maxtrue at February 7, 2007 02:32 PMIranian textbooks More repetitive articulation Posted by: Maxtrue at February 8, 2007 03:05 PM'The study analyzed 95 textbooks and 20 teacher's guides used at Iran's state-run schools. Groiss said the curriculum "reflects Iran's belligerent intentions which should sound the alarm to anyone who is committed to peace and stability in the world." ' from above link Now who ARE those committed to peace and stability AND denounce such pratices with as much gusto as denouncing the US or Israel? Perhaps this is a better test.
