Hillary: "I'm In"

From Hillary's revamped site:

I'm in. And I'm in to win.

Today I am announcing that I will form an exploratory committee to run for president.

And I want you to join me not just for the campaign but for a conversation about the future of our country -- about the bold but practical changes we need to overcome six years of Bush administration failures.

In other words, vote for me in the Democratic primary because I really, really do not like George W. Bush.

As Hillary has moved toward the center preparing a run for President in the past years, I have worked at trying not to cringe everytime I see her face. To some extent she has won me over, and whether or not I will vote for her in the end, I do believe that she would make a good President.

That been said, I was hoping for something a little more inspiring than this from a DLC'er. However, this works better.

She sure looks Presidential sitting on that counch in front of that white french door. Where Obama beats her on personality and charisma, she may have him on looking Presidential. That is saying a lot since a woman has never been the leader of the free world before.

Pretty much any Democrat running for President is going to say that the country has been going in the wrong direction. And that they want to change that. It happens when the President is George W. Bush . . . or when the President is any other Republican in memory. Just as any Republican, running during a Democratic administration, will make the same argument. If anybody can come up with an example of a Presidential candidate, or even would-be Presidential candidate, saying that he wanted to continue the policies of his predecessor of the other party, I will be fascinated to learn of it.

I'm not deciding who I will favor in either primary at this early date. Let alone in the general election. Actually, I think that the early start to the electioneering is probably not the best thing that has happened to politics in this country. But while we may be stuck with it, I decline to encourage it by making an early choice myself.

I'm not making a choice either. Not this early.

That said, I'm afraid Hillary won't win either the primary or the general. Too many conservatives hate her for being too far to the left and too many liberals hate her for being too far to the right.

Besides, she's a cat person. Ya gotta be a dog person to be a great politician. ;-)

I liken Hillary to nails scraping a blackboard.
I cannot stand that witch.

Never underestimate the underestimated. Hillary Clinton will definitely be a force to contend with this year and next. With her husband as her fundraiser-in-chief they could conceivably raise upwards to 200 million dollars during the next year and a half. She has the ability to drain dry the source pool for most of the other candidates in her party. Remember, Bill has been awful quiet of late.

The Irag War will be the central issue in next year's election. If that is the case she has over a year to reinvent her, and the Clintons are the best at rubbing the opponents faces in their mistakes. They will always tell how they would have done it different. The Clintons have 20/20 vision on the campaign trail.

If there is a recession next year, plus the war, the woman will be in like flynn. Make no mistake, her rise will come at the expense of Dubya free-fall. As of right now, the war is eating his presidency alive and shrinking his base, and either he doesn't know it or doesn't care.

Bill will be on phones calling every causus goer in Iowa and every primary voter in New Hamshire. I could even see the Republican going over and voting for Hillary in New Hamshire because that state as an open primary. Republicans cross over and vote for Hillary believeing she is the weakest candidate for them in the fall.

What I don't like is that two families in America act like professional wrestling tag teams - the Bushes and Clintons. I hope the American people feel the same way. It is time for something different, but right now the fields in both parties look very weak.

For many long years I have been praying for a presidential ballot that did not contain a Bush, a Dole, a Kennedy, or a Clinton. Please, Lord, hear my prayers...

Tully brings up an excellent point.... You could almost hear the collective sigh yesterday after Hillary announced her candidacy.

Posted by: Starbucks Republican at January 21, 2007 03:44 PM

My prayers are answered if the general election ballot meets the criteria. Hasn't happened in my adult voting lifetime, which covers seven presidential elections.

He beats her in legislation as well.
In 2 years Obama has piled up an impressive list of legislation he's introduced or co sponsored.
In 6 years in the senate, Hillary's is as spare as Edwards. Neither introduced or co sponsored a major peice of legislation.
So, when it is finally revealed that Hillary did not do too much for 6 years, coupled with her DLC ties and her inside the beltway rep and her lack of likablity or speaking style and compared that to Senator Obama's impressive list of bills along with his elegance, very high intellegence, charisma and powerful speaking style, who do you think wins???

VWCAT, I have not seen the allegedly impressive list of legislation Obama has introduced or co-sponsored. Might you have a link to it, and information about the progress of each bill? Or should we assume you're just puffing Obama again?

Hey Starbucks Republican, have you considered becoming a republican who visits a a more entertaining coffee stand?

BTW, this is you, right Matt?
