The Committee on Iraq

ABC News reports:

Leaders of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Reform Committee held a press conference to float the idea that committee leaders from both parties with a hand in Iraq policy should be meeting. And on a regular basis.

How many committees on Iraq must we have before somebody makes a damn decision? Geesh!

Maybe it is just me, but has John McCain's stock skyrocketed for anyone else this week? I just get the impression that there is one politician in Washington D.C. who is saying what he thinks and proposing bold action toward victory, while the rest of them are walking on egg shells, forming committees, accepting defeat, and doing everything possible to aovid making a decision while more and more of our troops are being killed.

We need decisive leadership now! I am so utterly sick, tired, and bored with the game playing. It's like they don't understand or care that lives are at stake.

The actual relevance and maximum expected useful output of a committee can be mathematically determined by subtracting the political power rating of the stupidest member from the intelligence rating of the most experienced and able member, and dividing the result by the sum of the number of administrative aides working for all other committee members.

I know this is so, because we developed this formula through serious committee study and consensus. :-)

The next question is, if you have competing commitees, is their overall score determined by that formula working over all the committees?

To be slightly fair, I suspect that we're seeing a widespread understanding that the first committee didn't work out, and so, it's time to spread the tentacles wider.

My favorite is the one on how we should try to solve the 2,000-year-old Holy Land hot spot at our convenience in time to help us in Iraq in 1-2 years. I'm surprised there was no recommendation about apple pie!

I'm working on a blogpost on why it's so much harder to get stuff done in the government.

We need to form a committee to examine that question.

And embed another committee into the first to make sure they are doing their job properly.

Speaking of comittees, "The Committee of the Whole" was a great short Sci Fi. Written over thirty years ago, it shows how far committees can go.

You guys can laugh at Committees all you like, but I think the real reason the ISG came up with so little of value was they didn't hold enough Meetings. Of course it still needs to be Studied.

To be on topic for a minute...

Maybe it is just me, but has John McCain's stock skyrocketed for anyone else this week?

I wouldn't say skyrocketed, but it's not just you.

-----------------------------------

Dennis, you've demonstrated to the Board that you possess the appropriate skill set necessary to constitute and convene an Executive Advisory Panel for the purpose of thoroughly examining and reviewing this crucial issue, with the aim of determining the essential pivotal success factors involved in equitably determining the optimal number of plenary sessions most generally conducive to the production of peak behavioral efficiency and maximal outcome-seeking in a focused-subject group dynamic.

We have every confidence that your efforts will effectively address the questions, comments, and concerns of all interested parties, and result in a vastly improved systematology for facilitating the formation of future advisory panels.

Report back to us by Tuesday. :-)

Sorry Tully. My job here at the Department of Redundancy Department keeps me pretty busy. I don't think I can make that deadline.

And on the topic:
My guess is that anyone looking at the situation realistically thinks the best course of action is to "stay the course". Try to find anyone willing to say that out loud.

Tully was right about Reyes. He shows a fine grasp of the issues and foreign players.....
Reyes looked foolish...great move Pelosi..

AQ is a Sunni Jihadist group.

Geez....a new key part of another committee.

Jefferson relected? Bravo....

OBAMA running? Richardson, Edwards, Clinton, Vilsak, Biden, Gore?
