November 09, 2006A Hitchens / PajamasMedia interview. It's spooky how right Hitchens is sometimes. Maybe it's because he was drunk (of course). In this case, it's his #1 choice for whom he wanted to lose Tuesday, Gov Perry of New York, oh, whoops, no, Texas. Posted by Jon Kay at November 9, 2006 12:57 PMComments
Well, when Hitchens wakes up this morning hung over, he probably noticed the following and wondered what Gates and Bush are planning to do. Not only do I agree with a number of his opinions, I could agree more with his view of Allen.
Who said Iran doesn't sponsor terrorism through proxies? the growing spread of Islamic terror And today Syria issued a strong support for Sudan to resist false claims about genocide and the "plots" of the west. LOL Kosworld getting ready for the next round of bi-partisan civility Posted by: Maxtrue at November 9, 2006 02:57 PMagain, who said Iran doesn't spread terrorism through proxies? Posted by: Maxtrue at November 9, 2006 02:59 PMSpeakers will include Elizabeth Holtzman, former Member of Congress, served on the House panel that voted to impeach President Nixon, and author of "The Impeachment of George W. Bush: A Practical Guide for Concerned Citizens"; Cindy Sheehan, Co-Founder of Gold Star Families for Peace; David Swanson, Co-Founder of AfterDowningStreet.org and Washington Director of Democrats.com; Tim Carpenter, Director of Progressive Democrats of America; Jodie Evans, Co-Founder of CODE PINK Women for Peace; Bill Perry, Veterans for Peace; and Bob Fertik, President of Democrats.com and ImpeachPAC.orgNow there's a crew that has their collective fingers on the pulse of America. Yes, yes and yes again we want another impeachment!!! Posted by: c3 at November 9, 2006 06:33 PM Kosworld is in denial and thinks the Democrats owe them something for their victory. Yes c3, what a crew. I didn't see Huffington on the list. I think the first nutroot target is Clinton. Maybe by 2008 they will be supporting the Republicans....with the Evangelicals behind the Democrats. I suggest Borat this weekend for everyone needing some comic relief. Posted by: Maxtrue at November 9, 2006 06:49 PMReality has never really been their strong point. Now, it's true that plenty of them put lots of work, money, and some votes into today's win, and I do feel gratitude toward them for that. But that still doesn't mean Democrats in power will vote to withdraw from Iraq and spend all their time on investigations. We saw Tuesday that centrist voters held the balance of power, and trust me, that hasn't been lost on Ms Pelosi. After all, the base pretty much always turns out. Extreme candidates often do well in primaries and offyears, because fewer centrist voters are there to balance them. Not this time, though. What made the GOP victories possible was the fact that the GOP did a better job than we did of persuading centrists to vote for them. Tuesday, the centrists felt the GOP was governing badly. Although the GOP base was grumbling, they do seem to have turned out in the end. And for another thing, there isn't a majority in the House, much less the Senate, to withdraw. The new seats that gave us our margin are generally centrist, so the math's impossible for that. You are right. Biden isn't from Kosworld nor is Webb (though he didn't like Iraq from the start). Republicans now have Dean and Murtha saying some bold things on tape. Hillary was NEVER forced to retract her support of the war. If Santorum can come back, so can Warner. What is unfolding is not far from what this blog predicted. It will still take a super majority to over-ride a veto and with 2008 fast approaching Pelosi and others must plot a rational course or the Republicans will take over again. I do think some of the Republican base punished Bush. There are two jokes from this election. 1. Any government can survive and make so many stupid mistakes and 2. that centrists and Independents don't play a critical role. Had there been a third party, the Republicans might still be in power. Kosworld must be almost as sore as the Republican Right Wingers. Anyone think Dean will try to play centrist and rehabilitate himself? How about Pelosi? Many possibilities and they seem to be leaning center. Good |
