I may have posted this before but Gruntled Center has had a multitude of posts on Marriage. This one resonates with this post. The Netherlands created a "civil union" marriage lite for gay couples. The unintended consequence was the dramatic growth in such arrangements among heter*s*xual couples. Gruntled's conclusion based on the follow up research is that men don't like the confinement of marriage.
