This is a holiday to me. For one, I like flying in the face of superstition. Plus it's irregular, or at least not completely regular, in occurance, less so than Easter even. And I like trying to get people to apply the bad luck associated with it to zero sum games and other competitions.

Friday is always a good day regardless of the number after it!

Does anyone here remember the comic strip Pogo?
"Friday the 13th done fallen on a [insert day of the week]!"

My daughter was born on November 13 and her 13th birthday was on Friday. She had a lot of fun planning that birthday party!

In other news, the sun came out today after a day and a half of rain and it's turned out to be a gorgeous fall day! You can catch a view from this skycam.

Orlando has been a hotspot for politicians in the state of Florida. It is getting so bad that gubernatorial candidates are taking the term I-4 corridor literally and not even bothering with the airports.

One of Maine's bigger issues in November is "Question 1" aka TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights). It's supposed to be based on Colorado's TABOR, but I haven't studied Colorado's law enough to know for sure.

In general, I'm for it. But I'd appreciate some feedback on what others here think about it and whether they think it might be a good or bad thing for my new state.

Yeah, I loved Pogo too. It was always Churchy La Femme, the turtle, who was letting us in on what day Friday the 13th fell.

Churchy liked a proposal in the strip to just have one month, because then there'd only be one 13th of the month.
