Huh?
The Times reports that Hillary, once the devil incarnate to the healthcare industry, now is living off the fat of the land
As she runs for re-election to the Senate from New York this year and lays the groundwork for a possible presidential bid in 2008, Mrs. Clinton is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from doctors, hospitals, drug manufacturers and insurers. Nationwide, she is the No. 2 recipient of donations from the industry, trailing only Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, a member of the Republican leadership.
Mrs. Clinton explains
“We tried to do too much too fast 12 years ago, and I still have the scars to show for it,” she said in an address in March before the annual conference of the Federation of American Hospitals.
Money has a wonderful "clarifying" effect.

Maybe its reality not money.
No great fan of Mrs. Clinton, but...
She can take all the money she wants. When she starts to act in the interest of the healthcare industry as opposed to New Yorkers, that is when the problem occurs. No one is saying that Abramhoff, etc. were wrong to take the money, it is the allegation that that they took the money as payment for unethical acts that they are being investigated for.
When it turns out she has been influenced by these donations, shame on her. Until then, not so much.
Scott, just a point of clarification, but Abramoff was not himself a Congressman... his crime was buying others, not being bought.
True. I didn't mean to imply he was. What I meant was that there is nothing wrong with him raising money for politicians and lobbying.
The wrongness is the alleged (I think it happened, but it isn't proven yet) act of taking money for doing and to do unethical things.
No, it's ok to drop the "alleged" with Abramoff. He plead guilty in January to fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy to bribe public officials. The improper conduct by the alleged bribees hasn't been proven yet.
Poor Hillary, She has really experienced a lightspeed transition , no?
12 years ago she was a proto-communist toady whose reform plans would destroy all that's holy in our splendid system of american free enterprise.
Now she's the toady for powerful and untrustworthy business interests, who by the way are no longer representative of holy free enterprise.
If you want anything like a single-payer system, you're a communist. If you support business interests, you're a corporate toady. Clearly, there's no middle ground here. So we can all go home.
LOL. Good point, Brian.
Pat is quite right that the bribees haven't been proven to be guilty of anything. Yet. (Of course, that's not going to help them with reelection plans this fall.)
You are absolutely correct, Pat.
I was trying to make sure I didn't say anything inflamatory I coudn't back up, and I was too lazy to search out the current status of the case from a decent source. I am sure I can find a left-wing site that has him sentenced already, and a right-wing site that has him exonerated...
