June 03, 2006DLC Publishes Cartoon EditorThe Democratic Leadership Council has published an essay by Flemming Rose, the Danish editor who originally published the notorious Muhammed cartoons. It shows Rose to have a balanced view of immigration, and a thoughtful intellectual journey, not the purveyor of hate speech that some would have us think. It's courageous for the DLC to have published an essay by Rose, who is under an Islamist death sentence, less that the DLC will be a target of Islamists than by those who think it's insensitive to publish someone who sounds like a neocon. Brave indeed. Good catch! Posted by: Jon Kay at June 4, 2006 10:28 AMYes, brave, unless they end up apologizing for it by Wednesday. Posted by: bk at June 5, 2006 08:44 AMGood for the DLC for publishing the essay. Did they have the stones to publish some of the cartoons, too? Anybody who actually read the originial explanation by Rose and his paper for the contest which lead to the cartoons saw that there were no racist motivations at all behind them, just a sincere desire to avoid self-censorship out of fear of violence.
