Interactive Congressional Map

Congressional Quarterly has a cool map which offers projections of the 06 races.

MAJOR cool. That's one of the best basic interactives I've seen. Bastards are trying to put me out of work!

Bellwethers, though still mostly useless this far out: Bob Ney, Ohio 18. Blue-collar district, solid GOP, but scandal-ridden incumbent. Testing the "culture of corruption" meme/strategy. In the Senate, Jim Talent in Missouri. If the older white blue-collar vote turns on him, he's toast. (Also Ben Nelson in Nebraska, which the site incorrectly notes as a Republican.) Governors, Henry in Oklahoma. If this incumbent Dem can't hold on for a second term, things look bleak in the Plains for the Dems.

...kinda surprised that the MA gov tally is that there is no clear favorite. I suppose that this is strictly true, but my strong feeling is that when the dust settles the democrats will re-take the office.

Of course if the GOP's candidate, current lt. gov. Kerry Healey, has an ounce of sense, she'll court soccermoms and run against the democrats. The best argument for a GOP governor here is that it's the only check on the most spendthrift impulses of a democratic party that would run roughshod if it re-took the goverorship in addition to its overwhelming dominance at virtually all other levels of local government.

Now that I've written that, I'm wondering if she'll do it, and hopw many people will listen. The argument is persuasive to me, but I get the feeling that the large numbers of democrats in the MA have got an "enough with all these GOP governors" vibe going.
