Kos Debut

Markos "Screw 'em" Moulitsas, a.k.a. "Kos," makes his campaign commercial debut on behalf of Joe Leiberman's primary opponent, Ned Lamont.

The original ad can be seen here.

AllahPundit weighs in (via Hot Air) here, with commentary and Photoshopping. Jim Geraghty of National Review calls it "perhaps the most surreal campaign ad I've ever seen..."

Best of all is AllahPundit's follow-up remix of the commercial.

Hmmm. I think Markos is really starting to like this new gig he's in.

Ok, Mentos. I have not had a laugh that good in a few weeks.

Still it is pretty impressive, his rise to mainstream politics that is. I actually think the commercial is original, smart, and refreshing. Here's to it not working.

I think it's a pretty good ad, too. Instead of trying to convince, it encourages the viewer to get off the couch and act.

Sorry to sound so negative, but it is doomed. If it works, then it is proof that the radicals are taking over the Democratic party by trying to unseat Lieberman. The right wil demonize Lamont and the blogs. If it doesn't work, it is proof that the blogs are ineffective and not worth paying attention to because they are so out of touch. The right will harp on the failure of the netroots to be effective.

I definately do like the whole 'get off the couch and do something' theme, though.

Well, his record so far is pretty definite: get Kos' help and lose the election. I'm surprised anybody's willing to talk to him.

It reminds me of the latest Burger King commercials. The creepy ones.

Posted by: Tully at May 19, 2006 10:48 AM

Tully, every Burger King commercial with the big-head King is creepy... super creepy... the kind you don't take home to mother.

Sorry, it's been a long and frustrating week. But yes, that new King is really, really icky. And the dad/son burgers are stupid, but at least aren't creepy.

We're talking about a party that continues to employ a senior consultant in each and every Presidential election, despite that consultant's complete, unmitigated and unbroken record of failure. They seem to think if they keep doing the same thing, sooner or later, it must work.

Thanks Tully you made me laugh. Isn't it weird to see Kos v Lieberman as Gore had a decent appearance on Saturday Night Live last weekend? He was actually funny. Maybe his calling if he takes to drinking and stays loose. LOL The presidential candidate resorting to stand up comedy while his running mate gets a kiss from Kos.

I'm surprised the Kosdog didn't take a dump on Lieberman's front yard.

Lieberman ought to go toe for toe and turn the sprinlers on in his rebuttal ad. Or just let out a big dog to chomp that little one's ass.

Wasn't that an excellent demonstration of an unreasonable search and seizure?

Posted by: PatHMV at May 19, 2006 04:33 PM

That frozen-glared swellhead come walkin' in my front door like that, he gonna be looking down the barrel. Kos too.

But he distinctly blinked at least twice, so maybe they used a body double. :-D

Sigh. All too true. At the nomination debates, we should put up a big sign next to anybody using him saying, "Hopeless Loser. Don't Vote For Him."

Funny all around. The first word that came to mind when I saw the LaMont ad was "surreal". I guess others did too. The doggy ad is a bit more typical (and more pointed). I have to admit the dog seems more comfortable in front of the camera than Mr. LaMont.

Do you think Saturday Night Live will get into the act. The obvious person to play Kos would be Fred Armisen (sans the glasses).
