February 27, 2006Just Say No to Republican AdoptionRon Reports: State Senator Robert Hagan (D-Ohio) says he will introduce legislation to ban Republican couples from adopting children. According to Hagan, "credible research'' shows that adopted children raised in GOP households are more at risk for developing "emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, and alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities." Hagan agrees there is no scientific evidence backing his claims about Republican parents -- just, as Hagan notes, there is none backing State Representative Ron Hood's (R) bill banning gay parents from adopting. Hood claims children purportedly suffer from emotional "harm" when they are adopted by gay couples. As somebody who was raised by Republicans and understands the scars that can leave, I fully support this legislation. Kicking poor people, forced family trips to the shooting range, not allowed to date until I was 18, no non-white friends, and old Walton re-runs... It was awful I tell you, just awful. For the children, we cannot allow these people to adopt. Posted by Starbucks Republican at February 27, 2006 07:18 PMComments
I scored free tickets for a George Carlin show the other night. Pretty dark stuff. Very funny at times, and other parts were the foolish and bitter rants of an aged hippie.
My new campaign slogan is God wants all patriotic Americans to vote for me so that I can protect the children. It's a hat trick! Posted by: bk at February 27, 2006 07:40 PMI had conservative Republican grandparents; yes, I suffered the trauma of being forced to endure entire family dinners without saying one snide thing about Ronald Reagan. It was rough, folks. And to top it off, I had to eat jello salad and say I liked it.;-) Posted by: Blue Jean at February 27, 2006 11:03 PMI think it's pretty damn funny. I mean, banning adoptions just because someone happens to have a point of view or way of life different than your own. Where have we heard that before? Posted by: AR at February 28, 2006 06:34 PM |
