Dubai Withdraws

In the face of the rapid and prescient response of vigilant Americans, the nation of Dubai today withdrew from its plan to manage operations at 7 American ports.

Monday, February 27, 2006; Posted: 10:38 a.m. EST (15:38 GMT) (CNN) --President Ayvol Towled of the UAE admitted that "the whole United Arab Emirates has been run and populated by Al Quaeda stooges from day 1. But you're all too smart for us, so we give up."

This is a stunning victory for America's most stalwart anti-terrorists, and righteous proof that arabs can't be trusted. I can't ever remember being so wrong. After this, only an al-quaeda stooge would dare call these people xenophobes. They're HEROES!! I just hope and pray they let me stay here in America. I've been such an unwitting dupe!

Lol! The link isn't working for me though...

I also like the article about the White House having prior knowledge of the threat by Dick Cheney. It seems that a prior briefing had centered on the likeliness of the old man to shoot someone.

Laughter is good for the soul.

Hmm, I checked it an it works fopr me. The URL is

here's a taste:

When I look back on my 61 years, I sometimes think, "If only I had taken the time to really experience everything out there, I would probably be dead by now."

This world has a lot to offer—too much, really—and every time I'm met with the blinding variety of life-endangering options available to me, I find the safest bet is to bolt the windows shut, put in earplugs, and not try anything once. After all, you've only got one life to live, so why take any chances?

A good start to living a long, healthy life is to make a list of all the things you've always wanted to do but could never work up the courage to try, and continue avoiding these things. Just think about the hundreds of terrible things that can go wrong while taking part in a breathtaking, potentially fatal activity such as skydiving. Life is too short as it is, so it's better not to put it at risk by leaving the apartment.

I had to refresh my browser...strange, but it worked.

Thanks!

That article reminds me of my wife's stepmother. She's afraid of everything (but smokes and eats fried foods). My poor father-in-law can't travel very far because she refuses to get onto an airplane, not to mention that she won't leave their dogs for more than a couple of hours at a time. I think that mentality's got something to do with brain chemistry - PEPS: Pointless Existence Protection Syndrome.

That reliable Bush apologist Nicholas Kristoff (for the tone-deaf, that's sarcasm) in the New York Times....

Even if you believe in racial profiling, you have to look beyond the profile. Senators talk about Dubai in dark tones that suggest they've never been there. Dubai is the Disneyland of the Arab world — it's the place people go to relax, to shop, to drink. It is staunchly pro-American and pro-business, and its vision of the Arab future is absolutely the opposite of Osama bin Laden's. If we want to encourage Arab modernization, we should be approving this deal — not engaging in quasi-racist scaremongering.

Sorry, no link. It's behind the subscription firewall.
