December 22, 2005Slouching Towards Bethlehem--the Undying pre-Xmas Open ThreadIn darkest R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu lies dreaming.... Well, hey, it can't all be good! Posted by Tully at December 22, 2005 09:45 AMComments
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Call_of_Ktulu "The Call of Ktulu" is an instrumental song by the metal band Metallica, inspired by the writings of H. P. Lovecraft, particularly The Call of Cthulhu. It appeared on the band's second album, Ride the Lightning in 1984 and was written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Cliff Burton, and Dave Mustaine. It was Metallica's second recorded instrumental, and first in which the entire band played together. In addition, The Call of Ktulu contains a recorded bass lead by Cliff Burton occuring between 1:30 and 3:20 in the song. As is common with some of Cliff's bass parts, in The Call of Ktulu his bass playing is often mistaken for an electric guitar. Posted by: WHQ at December 22, 2005 10:25 AM When I juxtaposed Yeats with Lovecraft for Xmas, I really wasn't expecting Metallica to join the parade. But then, I never was a metalhead. Fits right in, though. I'm still trying to get over South Park's Woodland Critter Christmas Posted by: Marcus at December 22, 2005 04:26 PMThat was a great episode! Did they re-run it while I wasn't looking? Posted by: Tully at December 22, 2005 06:37 PMMeanwhile, CNN reports on the alarming discovery of rings around Uranus. Moons as well, but we already knew about moons around our anuses, right? Sorry, I couldn't resist this. Posted by: bk at December 22, 2005 07:21 PMyup, last night tonight is christmas poo also oddball special on msnbc Posted by: Marcus at December 22, 2005 07:37 PMHad the privilege of being forced to have a root canal (my first) today and can't have the crown completed until after Christmas. So much for overeating this year! Life (thanks to Vicodin) is great...lol. Posted by: AR at December 22, 2005 08:49 PMYikes! Profound sympathies. I had a wisdom tooth extraction one December, thought I'd be fine for XMas dinner, but got "dry socket." For nearly two weeks there was no such thing as solid food and there was no possibly adequate level of medication short of "comatose." Posted by: Tully at December 23, 2005 10:28 AMMr. Hankey rocks! (I aready had the Xmas album...) Posted by: Tully at December 23, 2005 12:46 PM |
