August 22, 2005Putting Your Money Where Your Mouth IsTwo climate change sceptics, who believe the dangers of global warming are overstated, have put their money where their mouth is and bet $10,000 that the planet will cool over the next decade. I dunno who's right. I have doubts that we'll see a decline, just as I have doubts that any rise will be on the scale that some predict. I'm not posting this because I have a dog in the fight, I'm posting it because I like it when people making predictions are willing to put some money on the outcome. There are few things I enjoy more than giving someone talking out their butt the old "I'll bet you $100 you're wrong" and then enjoying the retreat to safer more qualified ground. Comments
I am going to side with the commies on this one. It dropped into the 40s last night and suppose to do the same thing tonight. I am in Wisconsin, in Mid August. It sould still be in the 60s to 70 at night here. Infact this whole week is suppose to be far below average. I thought sceptics had a "k" in it. Posted by: Norman at August 22, 2005 04:15 PMIt's from the Guardian, so it must be a British spelling. Yeah, come to think of it, it was cooler than usual here last night too. Since we know that two occurences indicates a srong trend, those Russians MUST be right. :+) Posted by: bk at August 23, 2005 09:17 AM |
