Feds Working Hard to Keep Us Safe!

So I come home last night, and the news is on in the kitchen, and they're covering the story about some town that wants to build some sort of waiting center for hiring undocumented illegal immigrants. Which leads my wife to wonder why we don't have federal agents to solve this problem, since these immigrants are just standing around waiting.

The very next story suggests an answer. It's about federal agents digging up pot plants in an Arizona National Forest. I feel safer just watching.

This makes a nice seque to Peter Bagge's latest cartoon on misplaced federal priorities.

The BC bud isn't real?! Wait 'til I get my hands on that... um, nevermind. Doesn't mean a thing to me.

OK I'm confused; which is the "misplaced federal priority" pulling marijuana plants or rounding up illegal aliens waiting for work?

Posted by: c3 at August 18, 2005 03:55 PM

Well, they're NOT rounding up illegal aliens. They want to build them a center,

I don't find either especially dangerous.

I'd be more concerned about shipping containers, personally.

Mohammed Atta was apparently in the country legally, they say.

I don't know if abortion is a moral absolute on either side.

I do know that it ought to be an individual right to make the decision, in my view. I'm not especially concerned if it's done at the state or the federal level.

I've had an abortion and it was the right decision for me. I have no regrets whatsoever. I believe it ought to be up to each person to decide that for themselves.

Sorry if this isn't quite on topic...but I consider it important. And really when it comes down to it...is what the issue is all about.

wrong thread. oops.

That was supposed to be on the abortion one. My bad.

HOOORAYY!!!! Carla; you and I finally agree on something!! Posted by: c3 at August 19, 2005 08:39 AM

I don't find either especially dangerous myself. My problem with immigration is that our policy lacks any sense of coherence.

Immigrants should either be here legally or not be here.
