New Blogs Worth Checking

There's a new "middle" group blog with some decent writers (including Michael Totten) named "Donklephant". It's geared to "a multi-author political blog that caters to the forgotten generation of Americans who have an interest in politics but don’t agree with either side on everything and are turned off by the unquestioning partisan nature of many leading blogs today." Love their slogan. "Bit Teeth. Huge Ass. Surprisingly Reasonable."

There's also an amusing parody site spoofing Arianna Huffington's blog. This one is called "Huffington's Toast." It may be less-than-fresh in well under a week, but for now there's something tastelessly over-the-top for everyone.

You forgot my hat tip!

Sorry, Alf. I actually wrote that last Thursday before I left for the weekend, I just didn't get it posted until today. I see you got it up in the open thread while I was gone and beat me to it.

Am I the only one unimpressed with Donklephant? I mean, centrist writers are always going to be a mixed bag. There's posts here that I say Amen to as well as those I pass over as quickly as possible. I'm sure my own blog sets off the same reaction. But I just haven't found a good excuse to stay stuck on Donklephant for very long yet.

I was just kidding, Tully.

Anything that makes fun of Arianna is entertaining to me, so thanks for sharing. I have my theories about what her core problem is, but this is a family board, so I'll refrain from sharing.

Her most recent entry praises the French for being such dedicated bloggers. (Just over 4% of the French population blogs, as opposed to a measly 3% of Americans.) Now I'm not one of those who prescribes to the boycott France mindset because of the Iraq War, but I am one of those who think Jacques Chirac is an arrogant prick. Of course, Arianna has to somehow get a dig in about Bush 41 not being "cool enough" to blog--what would any Arianna column be without some attempt at Bush bashing. (Goes back to my previous comments about what is truly at the heart of Arianna's problems but I digress...) My one question for Arianna would be, "Is 'anti-yes' considered the equivalent of 'no?'" Just curious...
