New Iraq Assessments

Greg Wythe has an interesting take on some new assessments of Iraq and policy/strategy suggestions from Joe Biden and the DLC, among others. It's worth a read.

All really good stuff. I thought Biden's speech was informed, comprehensive, and sensible.

I hope he takes it a step farther and is willing to call out those who just want to bail, which he acknowledges is just NOT a solution if you think the problem is terrorism.

Agreed. Good stuff. Couple of comments.
1)Is it possible for Bush to openly work with the moderate Democrats given the present partisan climate. (I would imagine those to the left of Biden saying "See, we told you its wasn't working, now he's looking to the Democrats for advise")
2) If we had not gone to war, how would the oil-for-food scandal have played out. Would we have gotten a more sympathetic ear from the Security Council?
3) Key difference between Hitler and Saddam, we've always known we're militarily superior to Saddam. Whenever War was necessary, ousting him would be "easy". (Of course, we now know what the "peace" is like)
4) What would Lebanon be like if we hadn't gone to war? What about Egypt?
