June 16, 2005No politics, just fun storyOk, this has nothing to do with politics. But it makes me so proud of my fellow Louisianans. Read "Beauty School Beatdown" about what happens when a young criminal tries his hand at armed robbery of a group of women at a Shreveport beauty school. This is one case where even I may not call for a lengthy prison term... imagine the humiliation of telling his cellmates how he was caught! [Update] I found the video of the erstwhile robber, in a neck brace and strapped to a backboard being wheeled out to the ambulance in front of a lot of smirking cops. Curling irons... talk about taking the law into your own hands! Here are even more details, and a great picture of "big mama" (as the robber so foolishly called the manager). I'm looking forward to seeing her on Oprah or Letterman or Leno. Posted by PatHMV at June 16, 2005 10:56 AMComments
sweet. Are they interested in signing up for the Armed Forces? That's another thread, never mind. Posted by: Scott at June 16, 2005 12:34 PMPat, That is absolutely hilarious. I'd agree with you...I think he's already been punished...lol. Side note: I didn't realize you were from Louisana. Your senior Senator is such an intellectual giant. I have to rank her up there near the top when it comes to most visionary, deliberate, and effective US Senators. (Of course, I jest...hope you are not too offended.) Posted by: AR at June 16, 2005 03:08 PMAww man...that just rocks. Posted by: stephanie at June 16, 2005 03:23 PMThanks for the article, Pat! What can I say? Sisterhood is powerful. (Oops, another stock phrase.) Now, if only they'd been at the student nurses' apartment when Richard Speck came to call.... Posted by: Blue Jean at June 16, 2005 03:24 PMAbel, I'm of mixed minds on our senior Senator. On the one hand, I find her occasionally too politically opportunistic. I don't know that she really has the horsepower that John Breaux or J. Bennet Johnson had before her. On the other hand, she's a genuinely nice person. My grandmother was very close friends with her late mother-in-law, Mary Louise Snellings (despite my grandmother being a hard-core Republican and Mary Louise being a major Democratic player), and my uncle and Sen. Landrieu's husband were close childhood friends. And I've worked very closely with her brother, our Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu. Her whole family really are dedicated public servants who mean well (her father was a long-time mayor of New Orleans). But they also often focus too much on the politics and too little on the facts on the ground and the policy. P.S. Apparently, there is some video out there of the guy being taken to the hospital... If I can find a link, I'll post it for you. Now, that I would like to see. :-) Posted by: Blue Jean at June 16, 2005 10:25 PM |
