Swift Vet to Challenge Kerry

Fresh off the Political Wire:

Jerome Corsi, co-author of Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry, announced he will move to Massachusetts later this year and to run against Kerry in 2008, the Washington Post reports.

This lying, carpet-bagging, "war crimes don't need to be reported" idiot will be crushed in his tracks by Kerry.

Your fifteen minutes were up before you stepped to the mic, Jerome.

Setting aside political virtues and vices, as a resident of Massachusetts, I can tell you that if you didn't go to high school in-state, you're at a disadvantage running for office here.

Considering that this man lived here for a period of 4 years, more than three decades ago, I'd say he doesn't have as good a shot as Alan Keyes did dropping into Illinois to run against Barack Obama.

Ugh... don't remind me.

I live in Illinois, and had to endure Mr. Keyes.

I, for one, will enjoy watching Mr. Corsi crushed like the insect that he is.

: )

What makes this guy think Massachusetts Republicans will nominate him?

BTW, we in Maryland hope the people of Illinois enjoy Ambassador Keyes as much as we have ;)

So Kerry wins with 90 percent of the vote?

Posted by: Daniel at January 29, 2005 08:16 PM

In 2002, the Republicans did not put up a candidate to run against Kerry. He won with 81% of the vote, with a Libertarian Party candidate getting the remainder

I suppose getting somebody from out of state is better than nobody at all.

I hate to sound overly conspiratorial, but I wonder if this is really a preemptive strike at a possible Kerry '08 presidential campaign. I seriously doubt this guy thinks he has a chance in hell of becoming a Senator from Massachussetts.

They said the same thing about Alan Keyes coming over to Illinois - that it wasn't to win the race, but because the Republicans were scared of Obama's future (they called in a mercenary).

Keyes failed. He didn't send a message, or make a dent in Obama's fame and glory and potential... he just pandered to his extremist place.

You're probably right, but if so, the GOP is wasting its time.

Oh, yes... and I might be able to forgive Corsi if he was just trying to kill Kerry's Presidential hopes.

Heh. Kidding, but this man could really kill the Democratic party if he wins a few more nominations.

Will there be a primary for senate in NYS?!?

Posted by: Daniel at January 29, 2005 09:21 PM

I'm a Dem and I hate to lose another seat but the HRC IS very ambitious.

Posted by: Daniel at January 29, 2005 09:22 PM

This seems to fall into the "It's a free country..." category. Do the Republicans really have a strategy for John Kerry in Mass? Is it the same strategy as the Democratic strategy for McCain in AZ? (i.e. resignation to reality)

It's a moot point... Kerry isn't going to run in 2008 because he is going to run for President. Anybody who saw his speech at Families USA this week, can see that. Looks like Ben Affleck is going to have an open seat to run for.

Posted by: Mathew at January 30, 2005 10:36 AM

Matt, are you sure you're not misunderestimating Kerry? He could probably sound like he might be running for both for at least 6 months before we nailed him down.

Kerry's going to TRY to run for President in 2008. Previous supporters will flee from the stench of failure, and screen their calls. If Kerry insists on pushing the 2008 boat off its moorings, it should sink in time for him to run for re-election to the Senate.

My good friend from Massachusetts believes Kerry will run for Prez in 08.

If he opts out of the Senate race...my friend believes there will be a major clamor for it by some very popular Dems within the state. Barney Frank springs to mind. Apparently there's a Kennedy in the wings with eyes on the seat as well.

I don't see how Corsi could come close to touching either of them.
