Holiday Salutations Open Thread

Merry Christmas to all my Christian friends who celebrate, and happy holidays and best wishes for this holiday season to all. It's a time for all to open their hearts and share good wishes in the spirit in which they are exchanged.

Here's hoping that the good will of the season runs well into the new year. And that the growth of a body of pragmatic common sense people in the middle continues. And that these people hold the hopes and needs of both the red states and the blue states in their hearts and their minds, so that America meets its many challenges better than ever.

Those so inclined, please feel free to join me in quietly praying that God will keep our brave soldiers safe, and also keep the spirits of these soldiers and their loved ones strong. And that in the future the blessings of peace, freedom, and sufficient means are spread to every home and to every face.

Saturday night, I saw a performance of David Sedaris Santaland Diaries, in which he recounts his experience as an elf at Macy's. Very amusing. Here is a realplayer file of the Santaland Diaries.

I wish all of you and your families the very best during this holiday season and throughout the new year.

Please accept without obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, politically correct, low stress non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all, and a financially successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2005, but with due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures or sects, and having regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform or dietary preference of the Wishee.

By accepting this greeting you are bound by these terms that:

1. This greeting is subject to further clarification or withdrawal.
2. This greeting is freely transferable provided that no alteration shall be made to the original greeting and that the proprietary rights of the Wishor are acknowledged.
3. This greeting implies no promise by the Wishor to actually implement any of the wishes.
4. This greeting may not be enforceable in certain jurisdictions and/or the restrictions herein may not be binding upon certain Wishees in certain jurisdictions and is revocable at the sole discretion of the Wishor.
5. This greeting is warranted to perform as reasonably may be expected within the usual application of good tidings, for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first.
6. The Wishor warrants this greeting only for the limited replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the Wishor.
7. Any references in this greeting to "the Lord", "Father Christmas", "Our Savior", or any other festive figures, whether actual or fictitious, dead or alive, shall not imply any endorsement by or from them in respect of this greeting, and all proprietary rights in any referenced third party names and images are hereby acknowledged.

Just kidding. Have a wonderful holiday season, everyone!

I recently read a letter from a soldier in Iraq sent to a co-worker of my wife. I can't disclose the letter, but suffice it to say, it made me feel that, regardless of our positions on the war, we are very lucky to have such people defending the nation. And it also made me angry about the depiction of our troops that you sometimes see that they are just people who couldn't get a job anywhere else.

I think that we can all agree with MWS's post. Thank God we have such brave, caring, selfless individuals over seas fighting for our nation.

With that said, Merry Christmas to everyone. I wish you and your familes, regardless of your political affiliations, the very warmest of Christmases and the very brightest of New Years. Let us hope that on this domain, 2005 can be filled with as much interesting political banter as 2004 has been.

Let us also hope that Iraqi and Ukrainian elections are peaceful and prosperous. And that our soldiers remain safe during the coming year.

On a personal note, please visit the home of my organization Republicans and Democrats for Positive and Issue Oriented Politics (http://www.rdpiop.com). We have launched our Revolution ’06 campaign, so please feel free to visit, sign up, read stories, from 150 newspapers daily, and correspond on our blog as well.
