Something to break the ice. What are your July 4 plans? Rather than go into Boston, we usually go to local fireworks, which are overhead and loud. I like to feel the percussive effect. You lose that in the big city firework displays. Posted by: rickheller at July 2, 2004 03:24 PMWe are having a big party. Lots of games for the kids, food, and, of course, beer. Posted by: Todd Pearson at July 2, 2004 04:10 PMJust remember, Todd, gunpowder and alcohol don't mix. It won't shoot and it tastes awful. Posted by: Todd Pearson at July 2, 2004 05:40 PMDefinitely shooting off some Texas size fireworks here in Dallas. Combine that with grilled meat, beer and heat, and we should be set for the weekend. Posted by: Scotch Drinker at July 2, 2004 07:11 PMSlow day for the open thread, guess everyone has already started on their holiday weekend. Posted by: Scotch Drinker at July 2, 2004 07:12 PM...back online after a week-long struggle with a We're going dancing tomorrow. Posted by: Jon Kay at July 3, 2004 01:57 AMOut to the brother's ranch where the fireworks are legal and the fish are biting. Let the kids run riot with their cousins, eat piles of assorted smoked meats (including the last of last season's venison and quail), drink beer, and watch the sun set over (as-yet) unpolluted horizons. Gain three pounds. Etc. Have a great 4th, folks! Posted by: Tully at July 3, 2004 02:14 AMDamn, Tully. That sounds like a good time. Three pounds is pretty ambitious for one weekend, though. Posted by: William Swann at July 3, 2004 11:30 AMI sincerely hope to fail at that part, William. The older I get, the harder it is to sweat it off! But I'm not going to skimp on the food and beer worrying about it. Posted by: Tully at July 3, 2004 12:57 PM |
