That will be a big shot in the arm for Bush if it happens. It's arguably what Kerry has been pushing for, but if Bush can steal the best elements of the Democrats agenda, just as Clinton stole from the Republicans, the nation may profit. Posted by: rickheller at June 26, 2004 01:19 PMExcellent news. We've had a few other advances recently, like al Sadr's decision to pull his militia back. I kind of feel like we're walking a tightrope where things just might work out -- but where we're in perpetual danger of falling off. Posted by: William Swann at June 26, 2004 04:35 PMThat is good news. As an aside, Sadr didn't so much pull back as get his tail kicked. This article in the Washington Post says the military counts around 1500 of Sadr's militia killed in the 60 day offensive. Posted by: Scotch Drinker at June 26, 2004 05:14 PMThe question is will NATO be the answer? Isn't there a chance that relations between Nato nations be more strained as they will feel forced to join a war that most felt was wrong to begin with? Posted by: Rachel at June 26, 2004 06:49 PM |
