May 30, 2004Good Essay on Threats from Troubles from Non-Globalizing RegionsSaw this great essay, The Pentagon's New Map linked at buzzpundit. I think it's great stuff.
Ironically from the title, I think his "threat map" is a tad weak and needs a little work (it overexuberantly covers PR and the VI,which are
doing pretty well - in fact, most of the eastern Antilles are doing OK globalization-wise -
it's Cuba and Hispaniola that are troublesome now. But thiere are many things that struck me as very likely right in this essay.

Disagree. Do not want to provide security for other for another 50 years as last as writer indicates was role in past. More than tired of playing "Uncle" to the world. Besides, basic to me for years now,Where's the tribute dough for any and all military usage? Want our troops brought home from the 135+ countries. Only consider our troops wherever if a solid majority are for it, and as have stated for years if we are paid "Tribute". Globalization? Screws over the middle-class big time. Wait until you figure out what slavelike you all have already becoming in with false theories of free enterprise, lack of productive side, huge burdensom trade yearly trade deficits, and a huge national debt. The big money guys behind the scenes pulling the strings are screwing over the people in their own country with not a care. Money boys and execs from a some specific more homogenous countries (there are some powerhouses dominating as homogenous)are not doing that to their own country, wouldn't think of, and are not doing to their fellow citizens. Oh, yeah, globalization. Sugar daddy politicos spending $9B on illegals and non-citizens, and spending another $9B on refugees let in here from all over? Do you even know about it? Am not the only one who wants these things redlined out of accounting books. Posted by: Alex at May 30, 2004 08:56 PMLike many other ruling aspects of American life, globalization has bad problems. The only thing worse than globalization, though, is not having globalization. Studies demonstrate a link between globalization and individual prosperity. I like having cheap toys and clothes, and I'm glad poor kids can have them, too. I'm glad of the many jobs globalization has brought, better in numbers and wages and working conditions than jobs shipped overseas. I'm glad of the rising living conditions globalization brings to the world. I think children growing up in Poland and India should have the same hope children here do, and globalization is the only route observed to move reliably towards that goal. You can choose to vote against politicians who want to send troops overseas, but if your point of view succeeds, you can't keep more 9/11s from happening. Nor can you prevent new Hitlers from arising, but nuclear-armed and allied with terrorists. |
