Blogging The Numbers: Week 2

I've posted the second in a series tracking the number of blog posts about each Democratic presidential candidate over at Blogging Of The President: 2004 This week, I have broken out the items into categories. Total posts are down 15% from last week, no doubt due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

This chart depicts blog posts only, excluding posts categorized as media or other.

Blogs posts are those which appear on personal or collaborative websites using recognizable blogging software. Grassroots blogs are those which contain a candidate's name in their URL, other than the the official campaign blog. A detailed explanation of the methodology I use to categorize posts can be found on SoftPolitics.

I'd like to find a way to do a similar analysis for Republicans. The problem is that most mentions of President Bush are not related to the 2004 race. Searching for "Bush-Cheney" does pick out many campaign-related posts, but misses a lot which don't use the formal name of the campaign.
